Previously I've only been working with 2.5" SSD-drives. Yesterday this one showed up in the workshop, and I have no idea how to interface it.

The connector looks a lot like the one on laptop WiFi-cards, so I tried attaching it there. Alas, to no avail. Perhaps the laptop is too old, but the drive didn't even show up in BIOS.

Tips?

This one is a mSATA 128GB SSD drive out of a HP Spectre XT Pro Ultrabook

mSATA to SATA adapters are easily to find in the internet (eBay).

Tip #1: Don't play suck-it-and-see with your customer's data.

Tip #2: If you have no idea how to interface something, then at least spend some time determining the function of the pins. For example, if it is a SATA device, then the SATA Tx/Rx differential pairs will be obvious. At the bare minimum, determine the ground and supply pins, and the supply voltage. If you can't confirm the latter, then DON'T plug it in.

These drives are showing up more often in the past year...having atleast one good reliable adapter in hand is a must.
