| Post subject: | Recovering Files From Failing SSD |
Hi, I have a 128GB SanDisk SSD (SDSSDP-128G-G25) that is a little over two years old. The drive appears to have failed as I can't boot off it. I have tried unsuccessfully to recover files from it. I booted off a BootMed Live CD and executed dd_rescue to write an image of the disk to another drive. I let it run for several hours but the image file was empty so I broke out of it. Below is the command I entered and some of the output displayed to the screen before I broke out of it. sudo dd_rescue /dev/sda /media/Elements/SanDisk128GB.dd dd_rescue: (warning): /dev/sda (47928108.0k): Input/output error! dd_rescue: (info): ipos: 47928108.0k, opos: 47928108.0k, xferd: 47928108.0k * errs:95856214, errxfer: 47928108.0k, succxfer: 0.0k +curr.rate: 5102kB/s, avg.rate: 706kB/s, avg.load: 9.6% dd_rescue: (warning): /dev/sda (47928108.0k): Input/output error! dd_rescue: (info): ipos: 47928108.0k, opos: 47928108.0k, xferd: 47928108.0k * errs:95856215, errxfer: 47928108.0k, succxfer: 0.0k +curr.rate: 5102kB/s, avg.rate: 706kB/s, avg.load: 9.6% dd_rescue: (warning): /dev/sda (47928108.0k): Input/output error! dd_rescue: (info): ipos: 47928108.0k, opos: 47928108.0k, xferd: 47928108.0k * errs:95856216, errxfer: 47928108.0k, succxfer: 0.0k +curr.rate: 4673kB/s, avg.rate: 706kB/s, avg.load: 9.6% dd_rescue: (warning): /dev/sda (47928108.0k): Input/output error! ^Cdd_rescue: (fatal): Caught signal 2 "Interrupt". I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks. Dave |
