I am starting to get into monolith recoveries after cutting my teeth on flash drives and have a couple of questions. I have a Sandisk Extreme 32GB SD Card with monolith. I can’t tell if its type 4 or type 5 (PC-3000 Flash database), is there any way to tell? Do I need a oscilloscope or similar? I know the difference is bus size? From that I understand this chip needs external power at 2.3V, how best do I supply that to the reader? I have just completed a soldering course so can handle of the physical aspects of recovery, just need some additional technical knowledge. |

It is one of the simplest monolith to solder. What type - just check it - solder wire and check ID. If reader is good, this chip do not need external power, just power from reader. |

Thank you. I did get this one back. I was concerned that connecting the card with an incorrect set up may damage the card. Always looking after the clients data |
