Never worked on one exactly like that but I'd say yes, good chance of chip-off recovery |

I would start by measuring the voltages at the outputs of the two "CC" coils (L6 and L7) near the controller. I expect that these would be the Vcore and Vio supplies. FYI, the 10-pin component labelled as TVS1 appears to be an array of TVS diodes or ESD protection diodes. http://tssdr1.thessdreview1.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Monster-Digital-OverDrive-3.0-1TB-PCB-Front.jpg http://tssdr1.thessdreview1.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Monster-Digital-OverDrive-3.0-1TB-PCB-Back.jpg |

Yes, chip-off possible. No problem with this controller. |

Thanks guys. Still working on getting the board to respond. FYI these chips are BGA-60 which PC3K Flash cannot read. VNR say they 'may' be readable. And yes the controller is in the PC3K database, which is good to know if we get to that stage. |
