| Post subject: | Sandisk Ultra II - 88SS9189 Controller - ERR Flag |
Hi, in the latest version of PC3k the Sandisk Ultra II is supported. Currently I don't have the SSD Version of PC3k, but I want to buy it for this one case. My problem is, I don't know if PC3k is going to work for me. I connected the drive to PC3k, but when I power up the SATA Port, PC3k only lights up the ERR register. Is PC3k is going to work for this case? Or is it maybe something else? |

It is Sandisk, not Samsung. First check PCB for electronic problem. If only ERR status light probably PC3K not solve your problem. |

On the PCB is just one diode and it's ok. I also have a voltage on some caps. And the 88SS9189 Controller is getting warm, so it's doing something. I also checked the SATA data and power connector, because it looked like the SSD isn't connected to the Data Cable, but it's also ok. That's why I have some hope in PC3k. But I also don't want to invest 2k in the SSD Version, if I can't use it. Does anyone of you have the latest version of PC3k SSD and can tell me, how I can put the Sandisk Ultra II into safe mode? |

D_R wrote: Ok, I bought the PC3k SSD, but it seems, it can't handle the problem. But now the SSD does not show the ERR flag, but all SATA registers light up, like no S-ATA cable is attached. So I think there is an electronic problem with the PCB. But where should I start digging around? I checked the SATA and Data Ports, they are OK. The other Problem with this PCB is, that Sandisk used fuck'n 0201 parts on the PCB. I inspected the board with my microscope, but I couldn't find anything wrong. The RV1 Diode is also ok. And I have 5V on the big caps. I also tried to reflow the controller IC, but it didn't work for me without a preheater from the bottom. That's what I'm going to try next. Or does some one have another idea? Hi, Might Be Chipoff Is a solution if nand is ok |

There is no solution so far for chip-off for controller Marvell 88SS9189. |
