I probably won't be able to help you, but could you provide a link to your update?

IIUC, you have applied the firmware update for a SanDisk Ultra Plus (SDSSDHP / SDSSDH2) to a U110.

The former has a Marvell SS889175 controller whereas the latter has a SanDisk controller (?).

AIUI, these updates are at least partially written to the NAND array rather than a discrete memory chip. Therefore I can't see any DIY solution, even if you were able to find your original firmware.

how/why did it "let him" do it?? most firmware I've ever seen do at least a rudimentary sys check to make sure it is compatible
