I suspect that these two "53CDKI" or "53CDK1" ICs are LDO regulators or load switches. The voltages on C135, C140, C106 and C139 would confirm it one way or the other.

Very interesting, do you suggest these LDOs could be the culprits? They could have a heat issue by design...anybody exchanged these and had success? I am not into SFM soldering but I can thread a thread into a running sewing machine's needle if I drink enough coffee... :P

When I used to troubleshoot microprocessor based circuits, I started by checking the power supplies, crystal oscillator and reset pin. Checking the supplies shouldn't take very long. You just need a cheap DMM.

There are a couple of things i would check with an oscilloscope...
chip-off is probably not an option due to encryption, unless one can find out how to decrypt...
