Hello,
I am using FC117 controller as the USB Storage Drive. Unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore. When I plugged the usb drive on my windows PC, the disk manager displays the drive letter but "No media" instead. I don't know how to retrieve my data. The controller seems to be active since there is the red led on.

So I am sad for unable to retrieve my data by DIY. The device seems very fragile then.

This controller is usually used in crappy Chinese-made devices, often in conjunction with crappy reject/refurbished memory.

Sorry, I don't know personally anyone in France but you can easily send it to UK!

Firstly though, post a photo of the other side showing the memory chip.

Yes indeed, it's my fault, even though I bought the device on eBay. In its description, it is an external drive USB 3.0, I wondered it was a 2.5 HDD. Anyway, I can only blame myself.
Here is the other side of the memory chip.
I note the letters
front side: FC1179 AA3 K99P
back side: PFH17 SG <nl>1836. In the corner KT44.
Based on @lcoughey's answer, I will connect to pcimage site. Do you happen to know roughly the price to retrieve the data?

I haven’t personally come across this exact controller, though I suspect it’s a re-badged CBM (Chipsbank) device.

That coupled with likely refurbished memory is likely to be very tricky to recover from.

Wow! You data must not be worth very much, if it isn't worth PCImage pricing.

For some reason, even $100 is too much for many Flash customers.

This one I think is likely a Silicon motion based IP controller, and may have support in the tools already. later they used alcor, but I think SM would be it.

Yes, this is true.

They usually don’t understand how difficult some flash recovery is, or more to the point VERY time-consuming. Especially with “modern” poor quality or old refurbished memory

I still expect this is a CBM controller, but stand to be corrected....

It is only an economic balance between the price paid (~100 $) and the personal lost data.

Strange after a bit of a search, I cannot find that "F" logo anywhere on the net. I always thought FC controllers were tied up with Lexar, but none of the other FC controllers bear that logo.
