is it possible to recover data from 10+ year old dead hdd?

i have any hdd what has been siting in my computer desk drawer for 10 or more.what chances that data is still in there.i only remember that my hdd had loud bang and lots smoke then it failed..also my kids have removed label what info text and hdd info...so what are my chances for data recovery?

IF the drive itself was not opened up and if the internal damage is not big you can still have the data recovered.

I do have many old drives that do still work/read and the data is still there on the magnetic platter so on your case even if heads and pre-amp are gone as long as the platter is not damaged (DO NOT OPEN THE DRIVE) it should still be possible to recover the data WITH A PROFESSIONAL DATA RECOVERY SERVICE.

If only the PCB is gone/toasted it can be even more easy / cheap....
