Anyone Experienced with Surface Pro 6 SSDs?

October 30th, 2019, 13:08

I've got a potential customer who's got a water damaged Surface Pro 6 tablet. From a teardown I found online, it looks like it's using a SKHynix hfb1m8m0331a single package BGA SSD.

The little bit of details I've found on this SSD seem to indicate that it's only NVMe so I'd assume it only has PCIe lanes and not any SATA lanes.

Anyone here experienced with recovering these who'd like to shed some light on what I might be in for? I'm not sure I even want the case (really backed up with other time-consuming cases at the moment), so I might end up just referring it off.

I believe the NvME was not detected ?
If it is, there is a way to extract data as is by a few methods..
I tried them successfully and i was lucky that the NvMe failed just after recovery.
