Dear friends,

best job between christmas and new year ... i'm working on an apple "Samsung MZ-jpv128r/0a2" from macbook air early 2014. The guys in the apple-store couldnt recover any data, so customer needs "fast" help.

Long story, big (or not?) problem.

When customer came in, i tried the SSD with PCIe-Adapter under linux-environment and it was recognized - after he was gone i tried this again to copy the data and the drive was gone also.

After about 1 hour i tried again and could copy 2% with dd_rescue - then the drive freezes. On next restart it wasn't recognized. One hour later i could initialize the drive again and read 3% backward - then still freezing.

So i decided to work with pc3k and installed the adapter in our DR-machine. But System doesn't start until Windows-Logo. After 4 attemps Windows starts and i could copy 1% of data with data-extractor - then still freeze.

With PC3K-DE and this pcie-adapter i cannot handle any reading-errors (soft/hard-reset or power on/off...) or play with timings. And if the drive freezes i have to restart/power off the machine until the drive comes ready again.

So i'm searching for a solution to "hotplug" the PCIe-drive every time it is freezing without restarting the whole machine. I found this https://www.amazon.de/QNINE-Adapterkart ... s=1&sr=8-3 and this https://www.ebay.de/itm/M-2-NVME-SSD-zu ... Sw1pddS6KA . With this adapters it should be possible to restart the drive every time it freezes, or not?

Can anybody help?

Thanks and happy new year to all of you!

This sounds like a good case for DeepSpar's USB Stabilizer+USB adapter.

Exactly what I was thinking! A perfect candidate :-)

ACELab“s PC-USB PWR adapter + USB adapter will also do the job :)

@larrysabo and pcimage: Thanks - i'll try with my cheap solution. DeepSpar-Tool sounds good but isn't an option at this time.

If this doesn't work i'll come back.

@digisupport - drive is PCIe - ACE-adapters only work with SATA-based drives

Not sure about your actual model, have non of them registered. Imaging a MZ-JPU512T/0A6 right now.
ACE PC-USB PWR adapter + PCIe2USB adapter like this one works fine https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MAU3ENPRPCI/
Will also let you control power directly from DE.
