Intel 160GB SSD Model: SSDSA2BW160G3H 8MB FAIL

January 13th, 2020, 4:36

Hello, this is my first post to the group.
I am a RAID config repair engineer. ....But i am stuck with an SSD disk with a problem not related to RAID...

Its an Intel 160GB SSD Model: SSDSA2BW160G3H
It has a 160GB capacity, but now shows only 8mb. This is apparently a known failure of the firmware, that apparently is NOT recoverable.

Here is a link to a technical advisory notice sent to all Intel SSD owners, (FROM THE MANUFACTURER), explaining the problem and confirming there is no known solution.

…….Intel released a fix for drives that have not yet failed, but the fix does NOT work on drives that already have failed. The fix will only ‘factory reset’ the disk to an empty fully working 160GB disk, but the data will be erased.

Can anyone find out if a solution is still not possible, or if a new fix is available for this disk model?
Kind regards
Linus May
