Lexar JumpDrive M10 heating up

Hi,
Got this USB-stick with broken contact.
I desoldered the old one and just connected a new through wires.
Now the problem is that the stick is heating up quite qick.

Anyone with experience of this and can help me troubleshoot?
I circled the components thats getting hot.

PS. I soldered the wires to a USB 2.0 contact instead of 3.0.

you don't say what pinout your wires are connected by (+ GND D- D+)

The PCB could have bent and shorted something if it is a multi layer board, or a component could have failed when the damage occurred.

You are right, sorry. From the top, GND (black), D+, D-, +5VCC.

The PCB was bent.. guess I need to find a new pcb.

"3020" is probably the Vcore regulator. Check for a short to ground at L2.

"8733" is probably a 3.3V linear LDO regulator. Check its Vout pin for a short to ground.

does it show up after you soldered new one?maybe just cool it with fan til you get data recovered?
