Trying to recover data from an ADATA SP550 480GB SSD. Model number ASP550SS-480GM.

Drive reports 303 reallocated sectors, 1321 offline uncorrectable.

Upon attempting to image the drive with ddrescue it will transfer several hundred MBs, then stall out and stop responding and will no longer respond to SMART queries until power cycled.

Firmware version O0803B5a. Controller SM2256K.

Could this be a candidate for my "trick"?

In-circuit recovery of SSDs with "weak" NAND:

Could be a candidate for Vcc experiments - but it could also be just a few hundered sectors easily skipped in PC3000 DE

It should be noted that SSDs with this behavior can very quickly flip to completely unresponsive. I suggest you stop killing it with ddrescue and move it to a hardware imager like RapidSpar, DeepSpar or PC3000 DE. If you don't have such tools, send to a professional or confirm with the client that they accept the risks of you continuing.

... or ddrescue.
