Ugly cheap usb flashes

Some time ago i bought Qty of those cheap flashes for Ads campaigns i never opened one of those till today
when one of them came to us for DR
When i opened it i saw this controller as in attached images below
Conclusion: You throw the
bait and

I have seen these controllers on legit drives. I think they are real Phison.

@einstein9, I've never seen so many zeros in a JPEG file. Can I ask what hardware/software you used for your images? The quality is excellent, BTW.

@HaQue This is one of the Cheapest flashes i bought, i remember 1/2 price or more if compared to others very cheap

NAND flash is a funny industry. It can be the really cheap NAND chips that make these drives cheap, or some strange business thing.. possibly fake controllers or just a company that is making 0.1% profit margin.
@einstein9 Have you run any tools against the drive to see what it reports? such as Chip Genius, GetFlashInfo.exe, Phison GetInfo (
https://www.usbdev.ru/files/phison/getinfo/) or H2Testw for checking integrity?

@ HaQue i remember i bought those 4gb for less than 1$ (bulk)
i still have some new flashes 4,8gb as well
Flash now is detected but asking to format (partition gone by itself

) trying to access data not possible
