Hello,
I have lost 2 Dell (Sandisk based) SAS SSD's to the 40.000 hours firmware bug (
https://www.dell.com/support/home/ee/en ... code=w12r2 ).
My exact model is Dell SXKLTK p/n 0DKM-400G-5C20 (pics attached). I had 2 of them in RAID 1 on a server. They both failed as the same time.
Is there a chance of recovering this ?
Yes, I backed up, no, I didn't pay attention to thin provisioning.

Have sent one of the drives to Gillware and currently waiting for an answer from them
In the mean time I'm still trying to find another company with the knowledge and experience to take on the second drive.

Some good news finally. Just got an email from Gillware that their engineers say it's a Raid setup and they need the second drive. I don't think I even mentioned to them that it was Raid setup so the fact that they figured that out it's an awesome sign.
Luck had it that I was ready to send the second drive today to Data Recovery Specialists but decided to wait until I get a clear answer from Gillware.
I'll keep this thread updated.

If it's a RAID 1 (mirror), then why do they need the second drive? Did something go wrong with their first attempt?
Let's hope they don't charge you for two recoveries.

Any updates? Would love a Gillware bedtime story.

Well, until last week they were waiting for information / documentation / recovery software from Dell / Sandisk.
After giving up on that (because Dell keeps insisting there's no recovery possible) they're now trying to do everything inhouse and said that's gonna take another 3-6 months.
I just asked them for one of the drives back because I wanna try my chances with some other guys as well but haven't gotten a reply yet.
Will keep you guys updated.
