Post subject:  Thumb drive ids as SM3267AB.

Received a damaged thumb drive from a customer. The USB port had been broken off and someone had clumsily attempted to solder it back on. Enclosure is gone so not sure of make / model. I cleaned it up and reattached the port properly. Traces all intact. It now gets power but the activity LED pulses slowly and it is assigned a drive letter but doesn't show any capacity and is not detected as a disk drive. USBDeview detects it as SM3267AB MEMORY BAR with Vendor ID 090C ProductID 3267. Dead controller? Damaged / missing resistor or cap? Worth trying to reflow NAND? Suggestions?

In the order id do it.

Clean up around the controller.
Rework the connections on controller - it's a weak design on the right hand side due to the PCB cut outs. Especially with connector damage.
Reflow the nand
Chip off.

Detect as Memory Bar means it is only getting controller info, and cant see the NAND, or firmware is corrupt.
I agree with @Lardman, chip of is usually straight forward with these.

have a good look under a microscope at around 10x - 20x

I suspect that the "24HV" component may be an LDO regulator, perhaps +3.3V. I would confirm that it is OK.

The inductor would be part of the Vcore supply for the flash controller. I suspect it will be around 1.0V - 1.2V.
