Hello
I got this USB drive, 16GB. Drive is recognized, mounted but look like controller go BSY afer 1-2 seconds. I tried to clone with PC3K but I need to unplug, plug again and it get between 0 and 4 mb each time... so I am going nowhere. It's SM controller, SM32590. Is there anything I could try ?
I could save all small files but impossible to get file larger than 500 Ko
Chip-off is not an option for now.
Thanks
Claude

USB Stabilizer can sometimes help with this type of scenario.
Before I had that I used a YKUSH XS to power cycle (
https://youtu.be/3Euh4eD_x-Y). HDDSuperClone can now also work with the YKUSH which has the advantage of running in Linux. Also HDDSuperClone supports more YKUSH boards although I still prefer YKUSH XS as it forces USB 2.

Guessing you don't have a USB stablizer handy?
What settings in PC3K are you trying?
Have you tired in a usb 2 port?
Have you tried hddsuperclone?

Thank you.
No, I don't have a USB Stabilizer yet.. maybe it's time to get one. I've tried USB 2.. same.
I've tried with HDD Superclone, worst thant PC3K, Linux doesn't recognized NAND, just gives an error.
PC3K, I have tried on/off hardware retires.. Pendrive always disappear on windows, so changing settings have little effect. If I could automate the "unplug, plug back" that would be enough. I have such behavior with SSD in the past and PC3K could handle it.. not here.
What is the best choice in USB stabylizer ?
Thanks

I only know one, DeepSpar USB Stabilizer. it's generically referred to a USB Stabilizer AFAIK.

Only other similar (at least I think it is) tool I have ever come across is

You can rig a usb power relay up just switching the power on/off which is essential what the YKUSH XS is. Id love the deepspar unit but can't justify the price

Do you have the paid pro version of HDDSuperClone? If so you would need to use the Direct USB mode to attempt reading, likely with a relay to power cycle. The pro version used with a relay can be like a USB stabilizer. The free version is not much better than using the OS.

Thanks. I have the Pro version but don't have a relay, I'll see how to get one in Europe.

Let us know how you get on, I'd be interested to hear what you think of th ykush xs. My setup for stuff like this could do with being more
robust and a lot less make do.

I am also interested in how this goes. I don't have much feedback on the Direct USB mode of HDDSuperClone. I also don't have a good tutorial on how to use that mode. The timer (and reset) settings can be key to getting it to work as good as possible. I am willing to provide limited support, but I may not always be able to respond in a timely matter.

Hello
I got YKUSHXS today. I can turn it on/off from cmd line but I'll need to script it to automate it.
Thanks

When using the pro version of HDDSuperClone, it should be directly supported without any need for a script. If you are using it with any other recovery program, I cannot help.

I can do chip-off with Rusolut but was looking for recovery without chip-off.

Big thanks Arch Stanton
I could recover it with PC-3K and YkushXS. Was pretty easy, just did a little batch loop.
********************
:loop
echo Loop Start now
timeout /T 15 /NOBREAK
ykushcmd.exe ykushxs -d
timeout /T 3 /NOBREAK
ykushcmd.exe ykushxs -u
goto loop
********************
I'll do the same with HDDSuperclone to compare, maybe tonight, if not it will be in 10 days as I'll be off for next week.

Good to know, I'll put one on the shopping list. I was going to code something to use the relay I have but there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

there is an usb adapter for pc3k that can repower the usb device, i used that to repower usb stick without detaching it from the system and cloned it in DE.
