Hi guys,
I have a Samsung SSD (made for Lenovo) which rises its temperature when i power up its board and doesn't respond on the computer. I tested the capacitors near its voltage regulator, and compared them to the ones contained in another working PCB from the same model.
In the first attempts i try to connect the ssd to a pc3k and all status turn on, but after 2 or 3 attempts only busy turn on and the board heat up more.
In another Forum somebody gave me a link this link
http://www2.futureware.at/~philipp/ssd/ ... Manual.pdf, pdf with very interesting information. In the page 40, the author suggests that it is possible to pass the memorys to a donor, some one try to do something like that.

I'm guessing these are the Safe Mode and JTAG pads. I suggest you verify them before trying them.
Normally you would short the safe mode pads while powering on, then release the short. If the controller is alive, the SSD should be detected. You won't have access to your data, though.

i try to upload the loader doing the short between the pads but without success. The drive dont respond, i belive the controller is dead

Can you tell us which voltages you measured at the capacitors around, and underneath, the PMIC? I can show you the test points, if you wish to test the other ICs.

I am the author of the paper mentioned. Yes, this PCB seems to be a variant of the SSD I researched, it uses the same chips, so most of my research should apply here. (The firmware could be different but it could also be the same firmware). The controller does not contain any data, you would only have to take the 2 NAND Flash chips off and put them on an identical but working Donor board if you can get one. (Make sure you don't mix up orientation and correct placement of the chips). The SAFE-Mode Pins and the JTAG pins seem to be correctly identified, it's the usual pinout.

But what you mean by this? Does it mean temp rises so it's doing something or do you mean to say it gets unreasonably hot? I am by no means expert in this, but if the latter it seems to me at this point firmware and whatnot is not what you should be addressing.

I think i measured all capacitors and inductors close to the pmic

Is it just me or does some of the components (the 12v one for example) look cooked?

NAND chip swaps to a donor are possible with this drive if the PCB is fried.
