Post subject:  SSD Samsung 860 Evo shows “Failing LBA”

In January I installed a new 512 GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD on my laptop, which to date has only reached 1076 Gigabytes of writes.

Just a few days ago I noticed that a diagnostic test performed in January, when the drive had only 3 hours of operation, shows the message "Failing LBA: 6811136" in Samsung Magician 7 (see the top right corner of the image).

I then repeated all tests, both short and extended, but they do not detect any anomaly so, probably, the damaged block has been reallocated, although Crystal Disk Info indicates that no sectors have been reallocated.

Does anyone have any information about the reported problem ? In this condition, can I request a warranty replacement of the disk ?

Thank you.

Has anyone experienced something like this ?

I thought Samsung Ssd drives like mine were pretty popular ...

A drive will retest a sector prior to reallocation. If the test passes, the sector is returned to service.

So, what Samsung magician reported is probably a false alarm ?

Currently both Samsung Magician and Crystal Disk Info 8.10 indicate that no sectors have been reallocated.

If it were my SSD, I would hang on to it and keep monitoring the SMART attributes on a regular basis.

The drive is monitored on a daily basis.

I might try asking Samsung tech support for an opinion or maybe return it under warranty since it's a product sold and shipped by Amazon ...

Just be mindful of the fact that your replacement SSD may be refurbished. I know this happens with HDDs, but I don't know about SSDs.
