Hi everyone,

I had a positive experience on this forum with recovering a failed HDD a couple of years ago. Since then I have been very disciplined at keeping my data well protected. My request today is part of that prevention practice.

Last time I used HDDSuperClone to recover successfully my data. This time I would like to use the same software, if possible, to do something similar.

I have a 512 GB Samsung dual boot SSD as a source drive and 14 T Toshiba half partitioned NTFS half un-partitioned as a destination.
I would like to make an image or a clone out of the SSD and possibly doing it periodically.

I think the best person to ask is @maximus. Maximus, can I use HDDSuperClone for this type of operation?

Hope this might be useful to others in my situation
Thanks

If you use Windows and your disks are healthy, it's more practical to use any backup software out there, Macrium Reflect, Aomei, etc
Hddsuperclone only works under Linux and it's great for cloning problematic devices.

Thanks for your tips grevan.
I am looking purposefully for something that works under Linux. I feel it'll be more straightforward to recover.
Nevertheless I keep your advice into account in case it turns out to be not practical. I don't know how practical is cloning / imaging the entire SSD every time I need to backup. I remember either dd or HDDSC have a way to skip the empty space but I need to check that out.

I would suggest to take a look at ddrescue instead of dd. In case everything is fine when copying, it should work the same way and with the same speed, but if you ever have some bad sectors, ddrescue will ensure your backup is complete. I dont know which of those tools is able to skip unused sectors.
