| Post subject: | What Is Recommended Free Software to Manage/Troubleshoot SSD |
I have an unbranded 8T SSD that is highly suspect. H2testw found faults in the first T but since then it has gone alright on tests - i.e. H2testw tests and my own copying onto it. But it constantly gives an error when I try to delete: 'recycle bin is corrupt, delete?' but it won't delete it. And windows cannot format it. I need, I think, some software to optimally look at it and figure out just how big it really is and how good it is or at least allow a format of it. Any recommendations? |

Start with a SMART report from a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo or GSmartControl. |

I couldn't see the drive with crystaldisk so I got gsmartcontrol and tried it. It seems to see a lot of drives. Up to pd3 are my drives: C,D,E and F. Then it goes to pd9 but all are unmounted except pd6 which is the SSD, labelled drive G: by windows. It is labelled by gsmart as 'unknown model' and all the others are labelled 'XVDD' Smart unsupported on G: and all those XVDD's Attachment: p.s. just how/what 'backup a day' do you suggest? |

Is this perhaps one of these external "SSD's" purchased from Amazon or similar? If so then it does not support SMART because it is in fact a USB flash drive. Try ChipGenius instead. Attachment:

Yep. It is a USB flash of undetermined size. I'm still looking for software to find out more/do more... Attachment:
