Apple SSD Toshiba 656-0021B dead

Hello all,

I'm in need of some assistance with my SSD in the subject.
I saw a damaged capacitor (highlighted in red) , I tried to replace it but nothing changed.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know of a potential solution?
I've tried doing some research on my own, but I'm not really sure what the best course of action is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Are you able to access both sides of the SSD in a powered state? If so I could help you to measure the voltage test points.

Hello,

thank you for your reply... yes, let's try...

Let me know voltage test point I can measure

Thanks a lot

I need to see the other side of the board.

You need to measure the voltages between ground and each inductor. One is marked "R47" plus there are two unmarked ones on the other side.

These are the datasheets:

ISL8022, Renesas/Intersil, Dual 2A/1.7A Low Quiescent Current 2.25MHz Synchronous Buck Regulator, Vin = 2.8V - 5.5V, marking 8022, DFN-12:

ISL8025A, Renesas/Intersil, Synchronous Buck Regulator, 5A, Vin = 2.7V - 5.5V, marking 25AA, TQFN-16:

The value of R47<->GND is 1,14V

Attached measures of 8022 and 8025A

Thanks

I expect they will be OK, but these are the other two supply voltages. Measure the voltage between each inductor and ground.

Hi,

here the measure of inductors. Is it correct?

Thanks

Those supplies look OK. The other tiny components could be load switches, in which case we should check their outputs. Unfortunately I can't discern their part markings, so I can't be of any more help.

That said, the fault is most likely a firmware panic due to bad NAND. If you really wish to exhaust all hardware possibilities, please tell me the markings on all the smaller ICs.
