Hi, firstly, the data on this drive is already backed up so no fear of data loss.

I have an SSD with a failed (partial-short) Marvell 88SS1074-BSW2 controller. Is it possible to simply replace this it, or is it tied to the NAND or anything else?

There's no serialisation on the drives.
