Dear Community,

We've encountered a unique situation involving an external mSATA Sony SSD drive protected by the "Sony Password Manager." While we were able to gain full access to the user area due to an internal firmware issue (SM2246AA), the drive itself is encrypted by the Sony Password Manager. Unfortunately, the software seems to have been removed from Sony's official site back in 2022, and it's no longer available anywhere on the internet :( Despite thorough searches, older forum posts only reference the official site, which is now inaccessible.

Does anyone happen to have the installation file for this software? Your assistance would be immensely appreciated!

Thank you, and I wish you all a great year ahead!

Oliver

Is this software an OEM version of ENC DataVault lite?

Have you tried the Wayback Machine?

Dear fzabkar,

Thank you for your prompt response. The SSD we are attempting to recover is the Sony SL-BG1. According to this page https://www.sony.com/electronics/suppor ... e/00276463, it is equipped with "Password Protection Manager." The newer models SL-E1, SL-EG2, and SL-EG5 seem to be equipped with the ENC DataVault Lite, as you mentioned, indicating a different security feature. The installation file for the Password Protection Manager is also saved on the SSD. Unfortunately, the installation file appears to be damaged due to a bad blocks on the SSD.

I attempted to access the download page via the Wayback Machine https://web.archive.org/web/20150330065 ... w_hdd_pwpm, but the .zip file, unfortunately, is not available.

I found this, but I would sandbox it:

Thanks, fzabkar! I'd like to sandbox it, but it's, unfortunately, a phishing site, and it won't let me download the .zip installation file.

Hey man.

I still have those setup files for Password Protect Manager.

My Sony drive bought back in 2013-ish is still working amazing.

Email me if you want the setup files for Password Protect Manager: vtb.dell@gmail.com
