WTF - new one on me. Please tell me that's not the direction manufacturers are going. Have you had a probe around, did you find anything?

What does the controller ID itself as in safe mode?

It's called mini SDP. This form of SSD is rare, and I encountered it a long time ago. Typically, the controller is one of 88NV1120, MAS1102, MAS0902, or YS9082.

They're around since 2016? Wow, they must be very rare, haven't seen one either. Which, I guess, is a good thing

I think there's probably lost of "stuff" we don't see as they never makes it this far West. If it looks like that though I'm glad - what are you supposed to do, ask it nicely to provide the data?

I also dislike similar things. This company seems very keen on producing products with non-standard interfaces, which I think is a rather low-level innovation. Truly capable companies don't spend too much time showcasing how different they are.

Is that the correct model number? When I search for "Lexar NQ100", I get a 2.5" SSD but no mini SDP.

The controller is a Lexar DM928, which is a rebranded Maxio MAS1102.
