ADATA ASWORDFISH-250G-C with RIS5766DL controller

July 10th, 2025, 9:14

Hello,
this SSD is not recognised by PC3000 Portable Pro and it is not supported.
I purchased a donor to compare.
I've measured many component and I've thought the issue could be the voltage regulator A because I had two oscillating readings close to it.
I've move donor voltage regulator A to patient and nothing is changed. So I've move patient voltage regulator to the patient and the donor works fine.
The middle voltage regulator pad it's connected to an other component B where on patient I measure 0V at both side whereas on donor 3,07V. I've swap this component and donors works again.
The middle voltage regulator pad it's connected to an other component C. C is connected to the pad D.

Red measures are of the patient, in blue are that of donor.

Some time, during the measurement, the patient is been recognized without sector access , but with a refresh it's been no more.

Someone has some suggestion, please?

Cheers

IC "A" should have 0.6V on the FB pin when it is regulating properly.

The other ICs are SY8047 and TPS22975DSGR.

Hello @fzabkar,
thank you for your answer.
I've measured IC "A" on the FB pin on working donor and it's 0V  , on patient is not always the same.

I've measured the other ICs are SY8047 and TPS22975DSGR, as the other ICs seems to measure a little bit V more in patient than donor.

In attached you can find measurement updated and the donor and patient status difference.

Thanks a lot

Your measurements for the two FB resistors and FB capacitor show the correct voltages, but the FB pin is sitting at 0V. The FB pin should be at the same voltage as the 0.61V point of the potential divider.

You have right, but on working donor FB pin is 0V (blu) :?

On patient FB pin I have ~0.48V unstable, but if I accidentally short-circuit an instant EN with GND FB pin and others of SY8089A1 become right.

However, with new overview measurement, could you have an idea where I can apply the next step, please?

Thanks a lot

Sorry, your results make no sense to me.

Hello @fzabkar,

I'm sorry for my results.

I've found new unstable voltage ICs that I write with ~

The FB pin and the resistors and capacitor are all connected to the same copper trace, so they must all be at the same potential. You can't have 0V and 0.6V on the same trace. That would be absurd.

The MT3133 is drop-in compatible with the SY8089A1AAC.

You also have a problem with T2. Vout is 0V, so it is not being switched on. However, the ENable voltage is 0V for both donor and patient. That cannot be the case because that pin needs to be high before the load switch will turn on.

Hello,
any updates regarding this project? I have one SX6000 sitting on my desk too. All voltages seems to be good, still the drive isn't showing life sign other then Controller getting hot and first NAND getting quite warm too. Is this design having a ROM mode jumper at all?

In your case, based on your description, it is likely a firmware issue due to NAND flash degradation. Not electric issue related.

Hello,
I'm sorry for delay.
In this case the problem was the controller.
