Hi

I have a TOSHIBA MK3265GSX that are with a firmware issue.
Firs the drive give me this log:

Techno On............................... : Ok

Zone table.............................. : Ok
Cyl num................................. : 192 447
Head num................................ : 2
Vendor.................................. : TOSHIBA
Model................................... : MK6465GSX
Microcode............................... : GJ002H8

G-List reading error.................... : G-List read error; unexpected error: Failed to connect with HDDs COM interface.
Check PC USB Terminal connection,
PC-2 adapter jumper settings,
COM port selection by this utility.

CP Avalable............................. : 33,34,44,56,91,92,93,94,95,97,98,9A,9B,9C,A2,A5,A6,A7,A8,A9,AA,AB,AE,AF,B1,B3,B5,B6,B7,B8,B9,BA,BB,BD,BE,C1,C3,C4,C5,C6,C7,C8,C9,CA,CB,CC,CD,CE,CF,D0,D1,D2,DD

After this I erase the g-list and after that re-power the drive and give me this log:

Techno On............................... : Ok

Zone table.............................. : Ok
Cyl num................................. : 192 447
Head num................................ : 2
Vendor.................................. : TOSHIBA
Model................................... : MK6465GSX
Microcode............................... : GJ002H8

Defects in G-List....................... : 0

CP Avalable............................. : 33,34,44,56,91,92,93,94,95,97,98,9A,9B,9C,A2,A5,A6,A7,A8,A9,AA,AB,AE,AF,B1,B3,B5,B6,B7,B8,B9,BA,BB,BD,BE,C1,C3,C4,C5,C6,C7,C8,C9,CA,CB,CC,CD,CE,CF,D0,D1,D2,DD

After this first step I was able to read some sectors correctly but after an hour stooped reading.. I re-power the drive and saw 5 defects on g-list.. made the same procedure again, erase the g-list and re-power the drive but now, I can read, but with a lot of sectors with ecc error.. and I just can read for a couple of minutes before stoops.. I already erased the g-list almost 100 times..

I need to recover a pst file.. and is big one so I need to see other option..

Any one know the solution or a way to help me in this one?

Regards

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I already try with different commands to read.. different waiting for readiness times in PIO and UDMA...
The results are slight different with different command to read, in UDMA66 for example I can read without ecc errors but I get a lot of sectors with reading error(black sector) and is really slow.

I already cleaned the heads thinking that maybe help but the result was the same.

Any more suggestions or any specific reading option to try?

Regards
