get MAX LBA

Hi all,

I have a IBM DTLA-307030, I used the command "isolate zones" in ISA PC3000 to cut zone 1, now, how should I get the revised new MAX LBA? Thanks!!

Newlba = oldlba/no of zones * available zones

your thought is great, but each zone gets different SPT, and I doubt if this can work.

Thanks, I have set the new MAX LBA successfully,
but I found I didn't cut the zone 1, the disk has some bad sectors in the beginning, and bad situation remains.
in pc3k, I selected "1" of (1-15) for which zone to cut, this is my operation process, did anything I do wrong?
or you can teach me how to do to cut the beginning part of HD, Thank you again.

Most of the times in these drives a particular area is not bad the whole head is or if you dont want to disable heads on these drives you can use selfscan.

I scan my HD by MHDD and found only 4.5% in the beginning part which has bad sectors, selfscan is a good way but it is too time-consuming for me. and maybe all 4 heads will be broken in selfscan.
Can you advise why I failed to cut zone 1, since there are 15 zones in sequence, and we have choices which zone to cut, or I missed some steps result in the part form the end of HD to be cut during my operation?
