PC-3000 UDMA Hot Swap Procedures

July 8th, 2010, 13:26

Hi Gurus. I got a WD10EACS-00ZJB0, 1TB HDD with burnt PCB. There is no U12 on it. Now I have a donor with the same model and same PCB barcode. Trying to rebuild ROM from SA Data. But cannot get into patient SA after hotswapping. Anything wrong with my procedures? Please help.

Turn on donor -->utility start -->HDD standby -->move PCB to patient -->read SA-->error

you do not need to hot swap with those. With the donor board spin up the drive and then go into the wd marvell utility. The drive should still be spinning. Read modules by ID. then rebuild ROM from SA. Then copy the rebuilt rom, then the rom modules over to the clients board. Make sure you back up the rom and rom modules from the donor board before copying the rebuilt info over.

restart and boom it should work.

Check you download box for the new WD Marvel manual and read this one too will help you out on it. Follow what cleanroom has said to you on this one also.

Thank you cleanroom and poehere. We just updated pc3k up to date but unfortunately they could not give us the new material without paying extra 900 euro annual support fee.
With the donor pcb and patient hsa, how can I get into the utility?

Check you manual section in your update box. It is there and put in all boxes that own the UDMA. You do not have to pay the support fees to get this book. Normally the support fees are for the program updates, forum, and FW updates they supply plus the TS that they give to you. When new manuals are available they add to the update boxes.
