Dear Gurus
I have the following drive, which went under an initial physical shock while in operation.(Laptop hd)
HITACHI 2.5'' SATA
500GB 3.0Gb/s SATA
HDD: 7K500-500
P/N: H2T5001672S
HTS725050A9A364
P/N X: 0A72335
MLC: DA3212
Cyl:16383, Heads: 16, Sectors: 63
Initially the drive made strong 'clack' sounds. Now I test it in PC-3000 and make no sound at all. I know that it is powered up, as I feel small vibrations.
The tool cannot identify the family, and when I start it it says 'HDD not ready', and an error on NV-RAM.
I just want your guru opinion. Could I try something without opening the hd casing? or do I have to look for clean room?
Thank you in advance
KC

You should take a look inside.
If you don't hear the heads unparking, something is wrong.
