PC USB Terminal Connection

March 16th, 2015, 5:26

Hi, PC3000 cannot auto-detect my seagate hdd.

So I found the link from hddguru forum (viewtopic.php?t=7084&start=)

I set it up following pcimage in the link, (he said "If you have it setup Ok, the +5V light (red) and the RxD light (yellow) should both be on, and when you apply power to the HDD the RxD light will go off then start to flicker as the drive sends data through the serial port")

But in my case, it is not working.

And both COM port setting and setting in PC3000 look fine.

+1, yep, gray cable connector needs to be reversed.

Should be a better picture in the manual.
Like MindMergepk and labtech say is correct way.

I corrected the position of the grey cable like you guys suggested, but my hdd is still not detected on PC-3000.

So, I tried to connect to COM port using hyper terminal.

When I turn on hdd, I got following message.

Does it mean there is not any problems with PC USB Terminal connection??

What is weird is the terminal messages don't always appear.

I kept connecting and disconnecting hdd power cable, and sometimes the messages are printed.

Terminal is fine.
Problem is with drive's firmware.

Suggestion: when you are unsure whether your terminal works correctly or not, test with another drive to confirm terminal config is good.
