copy hdd modules

I took backup from on sas hard drive and then write on another hard disk the same as first one. But my hdd doesn't work now. What can I do?

drive model is : Seagate Savvio SAS 15k.3 2.5" - ST9300653SS
I use pc3000 SAS and data extractor software.

I want to explain you a scenario.
I have a storage that can detect it's hard drive. When I replace it's sas hdd with another sas hdd this storage can understand and doesn't accept the new HDD. But in China there is somebody that can copy something from original HDD to new HDD. Then the storage accept the new HDD.
I don't know what does he do. But I guess that he copy the firmware. what is your idea?

my idea is you just need to change the serial number of the new drive with the old drive.
Serial number stored on ROM, you can change it with hex editor and write back rom on the new drive.

i just change a sn on Seagate 500gb desktop drive.

What exactly are you trying to do? For example, are you trying to adapt a retail drive for use in a Dell server? If so, then it may help to analyse the firmware modules in an update package. Alternatively, you could apply a firmware update to a Dell drive and observe the before-and-after differences in the resource dumps.

When you say you copied the firmware, did you copy everything, including the adaptives, defect lists, translator, etc??? If so, then that's probably why your modified drive is not detected.

Have you examined the SCSI mode pages of the original and replacement drives? You could use sdparm for this. That may help to identify any relevant differences.
