Hello and thanks in advance for any help. Can someone please point me to where I can get the correct firmware for this drive and utility needed to program it?
The drive is a slim, 40gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 and the following is on the label:
6E040L0510653 <== model #?
K,M,G,A
code: NAR61590 <==firmware revision?
s/n: E1A1XL5E
Drive is from a Dell Optiplex GX260 computer.
BIOS detects it as N40P and "drive fail" error occurs.
It powers up, spins, and there is no clicking noise whatsoever so I imagine a firmware fix can bring this drive back to life.

You need professional help if you need the data.
If you don't need the data, bin the drive.
If you don't need the data, bin the drive.
