I do not know how to get the version number, But if this helps, the date stated on the hdd is
"29 jan 2009" - WD Scorpio Blue.

You have asked for firmware in the PC3000 Support section, therefore either you have a PC-3000 or you have posted in the wrong place on this forum. Since you do not know how to find the f/w version number, I guess you don't have a PC-3000 and you have posted in the wrong section of this forum.

I would like to explain,
(1) I work in a small maintenance service which already have PC3000
(2) When i passed the HDD to the technician, he told me that this problem will be solved if we could find the adequate rom for this hdd.
(3) when "F_ARG" asked for the firmware version, I returned back to the technician who couldn't answer me.
(4) I googled and found the following regarding extracting firmware version methods:
a- using external tool: which is not available for me as the hdd cannot be read in bios.
b- through the hdd label: which is also not stated on it (I checked it many times) only I posted the figures that i thought might be important.

Finally I did not meant to bother you (I have already checked the "Sticky/important topics. Beginners please look here first!" section before creating the thread).

Can he read the ROM in winhex or other hex editor becasue he can tell us what the ROM is from there. Other wise he has to find it on the SA of the HDD plus BTW xxCT0 will work for him all I had was xxCT1 and xxCT2 and this will not work for him

If the technician is unable to read the ROM, then this would suggest that the PCB has a problem. In this case I believe the standard procedure would be to find a compatible PCB and reconstruct the ROM from several modules in the SA.

Denali has internal ROM meaning there should be a copy in the SA. If you have PC3000 available this can be restored. If you have PC3000 but do not know how to use it, ask Acelab for support or alternatively outsource this case (and others) to someone who can do them while you learn to use the equipment.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I have a question that is along these same lines so I didn't want to start a new thread.

I have some drives, WD5000AVVS - 63ZWB0, that have serious issues with their PCB's. Namely the TVS' blew and took out the resistor with them. So rather than try to solder new components on the boards I'd like to just swap the boards. I have a few boards from WD3200AVJS-63WDA0 drives that should be ok. The boards are the same, Rev and everything. I have a legit copy of PC3000, I just don't know how to use it very well yet.
