Hi,

Got a Charger with v2 encryption that was formated(quick one) so sectors are showing zeros. Original USB PCB was converted to SATA, ROM unlocked. Drive has SED turned on. T2 is 99,89% zeros. PBA access returns sectors as full of data but not a single file recovered in RAW except one or two that have a mp3 header look a like. So sectors seem to be still encrypted somehow.
The same metod can be used in Spyglass v2, v2 Ultra and work good. Files can be recovered via PBA. But this one is different. No other software was used by the owner to encrypt the data. Any hints? Unlocking rom stops some encryption key? Can't make PBA access with locked ROM to check, and this idea seem to have no sense.

since lba is used as seed in encryption, PBA access won't get you far with this type of encryption...

So chargers are another thing than Spyglass in terms of encryption? Is it doable if encrypion is LBA related?

Yes it is dependent and, probably, still doable.
If you go a little bit further with own r&d and won't relay much on pc3k/mrt capabilities, you still can have a chance to open up previous life on it. If it was just formatted without anything much written over.

Thank you. Good to know that it is possible.
