Hail to all GURUs

I just got drive which has been worked on by some other DR company. As far as I've been told it was password-protected and they wouldn't be able to unlock it.

Model is HTS541010G9SA00
I saw many topics related to this drive, PC3000 UDMA wouldn't unlock it.

Now this drive spins up, DRD and DSC comes OK but PC3K won't detect drive ID.
I assume there is a problem with either ROM or NV-RAM. All modules are OK.

All modules are ok ?

The open modules list is not loaded so not all modules will have been tested.
Also, which Factory Modules are not ok?

Even better, could you us show the full SA Test report

I got same problem like u when u tried to read HDD reach Readiness but when u tried to read any Sector show u ABRT at ATA registers, and when u check SA doesnt find nothing wrong , only DUMP module wich cannot be readed, well i got a solution by my self, i dont know if its same problem if its same contact me on PM or by MSN its more easy for me

Sounds like they buggered up the NVRAM trying to unlock it :-(

Hy friend at my case no another people tried to access before strange

at has the same "syntomph" only DUMP module damaged well now data back from this hdd so need to got some free time to search on deep whats happening inside

isnt this the type of job salvation data claim data compass can recover from? Bypassing firmware on this model.

Can you view sectors if you select 'Sector Edit' from PC3K utility?

If so data can be recovered by accessing DE without reading ID and manually entering LBA, and selecting 'Read from Active Utility' option

Changed flag to 0x81 and boom! drive comes up ready and can read Drive ID but now:

ATTENTION! Security-locked HDD.

Tried method described in manual (shorting NV-Ram pins) but not to avail. Any ideas how to unlock it?

Clicked [Password Unlock] button, chose SATA. Utility powered off the drive and asked to short 4th and 5th pin of NV-Ram chip (U6, am I correct?) so I did. Then it asked me to remove short and press OK. It looked like all is going well but after putting controller back onto drive it is still locked. Did I miss something?
