@zebong & @einstein9,

Do you have a solution you wouldn't mind PMing? Or at least some hints? Here is what we have:

Drive clicks 11 times then spins down. In terminal in HD Doctor, we get:
Code:
Rst 0x20M
No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags 2002B001


and nothing else after. Thanks in advance for any/all help.

@northwind,

Is this true even without the standard HM or Head Mask errors? We've never seen this particular message, hence the confusion and apprehensiveness for working without a bit of clarification and guidance in the right direction. (And we certainly don't want to get into something we can't recover from - a simple headswap or board work we can do, but if it's firmware related we prefer not to work with it unless we've done it in the past and had good results.)

Yes it is possible to have bad heads with no HM terminal responses. If drive clicks and spins down, to me it's >90% heads.

Agree, with .11 / .12 drives this is nearly always the case
