SAMSUNG HD400LD, TRIDENT PATA
Spins up, clicks once and then clicks found times. Stays BSY but doesn't click any more.

Every time I power cycle it "DAC" and "Unlatch Tk" returns a bitdefferent values
DAC: A090, A191, A291
Unlatch Tk: 00015443, 0001549F, 000154E0.

Is that Head failure? If so how to get compatible donor. There is no sticker on the side or P/V anywhere.

Have you tried a soft reset and tried to read modules?

Drive is not responding 'Drive is not ready', no soft/hard reset helps here. I cannot access SA, neither in normal nor safe mode.

I agree on SA problem too by the log that the drive provides.

OK then, what can I do? Will hot-swap work here? (*I haven't tried it on Samsung)

hot-swap should help you figure out the problem

Customer decided not to go ahead with this so will abandon this case.

Thats a shame, would have been nice to see the outcome of this one.

He left this drive to recycle, so if I get suitable donor will give it a try.
