Hi everyone:

Our island has just opened up a data recovery center here. Our government thinks it is necessary due to all the problems we have with hard drives and weather conditions here on the islands. they have purchased the PC3000 UDMA for this project and built a clean box to use. But they are not going to build a clean room for some time due to the economy here on the islands. they have asked me to try and see if I can find anyone that is close to Tahiti like New Zeland who might be willing to take drives from here to change out parts for us. We have several drives that need to have heads changed, a motor that is frozen, PCB's and what nots.

I know that maybe this is asking a lot but we are small here and they would like to know if anyone is willing to just repair the drives in their clean room and send them back here so they can recover the data from them. I hope that somebody is willing to help us out here Please.

Thank you to all and you can mail me at poehere1958@gmail.com

Why have you opened Data Recovery if you couldn't find parts near your island and your goverment wouldn't spend money? It will be very expensive. And I suggest you buy a big part at time.
You should understand that you need a lot of drives. As for me - 200-300 partially worked HDDs is minimum number to start data recovery.

Thank you for your replay.

I understand that people think that data recovery should be left to the professionals. But there are needs even for the small people and the small countries to have an in house data recovery for people who live here. It seems to me that everyone who has been in this field for a long time has forgotten where they started from. The bottom up. Everyone has asked questions and gotten where they are today because of this. We are a small island and our needs are for the people here. We will grow in time just like all of you have. But there is some things that just need to be done no mater what cost in trying. Maybe we will never open a clean room to repair the drives with but we can do what is necessary for people that live here. The people here on our islands have problems that need to be fixed and we are trying to address these problems. We understood when we started this it was not going to be easy. Just to get parts here to fix the computers is very hard. Parts change so fast and when a shipment of hard drives arrives there is around 50 per shipment of a certain model and type and the next shipment that arrives by boat is completely different. I am not going into details but you should understand the point. There is back up here but as you know that sometimes fails over time. We do have important information that is stored on these drives that need to be recovered. Here we can do a lot of the work but parts need to be changed outside of Tahiti. So if you are willing to help out that would be wonderful. So please when answering just remember where you started from and how you received help by asking from people to get to where you are today. Here people are not so mean they are so nice and always willing to help. Thank you so much for your replay and I will keep looking. I am sure there is some one out there that has a kind heart and is willing to help out Tahiti.

I understand your position, of course you could open your DR business in the Tahiti, and I don't wanna offend you, don't think so.
But mechanical work costs a lot, and it's not profitable for you to send drives somewhere for PCB/Head/HDA swap. If money is not a problem for your goverment/company - PM me.

Probably the best way is to hire someone who can train in DR. Then, express couriers arrive everywhere so what you can't do mey be outsourced. Simple. You only need one or two real experts to give you the basics and something more advanced about DR, know how to work with common drive families and so on. This won't cost the world.

Best thing to do is to hire someone to give you basic training.

Thank you so much for your replay it has been very nice and helpful

I have been told about the course in Russia from ACE. It is very far for us to travel there and at the moment not possible. We have tried to find some on line courses or DVD study courses but so far we can not find what we are looking for.

Working a long time in the data field I understand a great deal that is necessary for this type of work. From low level programming and on up. Before staying in Tahiti I had to travel around the world with a team of 17 tech to do jobs that other people could not do. I have been to many countries and done many things. I was hired with my team to go to the US to install the original Internet for their Government and put it in law enforcement agency to do criminal profiling. I had to install the original computer in the police car and make them work and train people to continue on with this work. I have install navagation systems in boats and hooked up to satalite to connect the system to receive their reading. Excuse me I am very rusty on my English at the moment. I have not used it in a long time. The advancement here is coming along and we have sucessfully repaired a number of drives so far. There are problems that arrive each day and we will look one day at a time and advance slowly. I did not arrive as the leader of a team that traveled around the world with 17 techs in one day. It took years to gain all the knowledge possible to be able to do this. I have time and will take it one step at a time like in the past. If anyone has some ideas where we can find a person to help in training or other things please let me know. I am good in speaking, reading, and writing the English language and this will not be a problem for me. I am sorry for all people out there who are French but the translation is very bad and not a lot of help at all when it comes to doing this type of work. I have read some

Maybe i should move to Tahiti :D
Problem is i would only be able to damage drives with my experiments, you would have to fix them all after i'm finished with them.
