Hi to all,

Have this disk that dont spin, so i found a match and change PCB but did not give the disk ID, but will get DRD DSC.

So i resolde the ROM from patient to donor.

Now the donor PCB dont spin with the ROM from patient, and also the patient PCB with the ROM from donor also dont spin.

It looks like the ROM has been bad resolder so i check it and it looks OK.

So i found other PCB change it and the disk SPIN but the ID is not correct.

What can be happening here ?

Thanks
ZeBong

Your head count is 1.

Provide a full model number.

With one head it should be easy to change.

Probably your head is bad and it should not be difficult to change.

All you need to do is download the correct ROM to the donor PCB. Or find a PCB from a drive of the same model number WD200BB-xxAUA1. Your donor PCB is not compatible as it stands.

The version off the ROM are different

WD200BB-XXAUA1-ROM.JPG

Mikippp, your ROM give-me this

Writing ROM from file................... : <HDD Profile>\Data\ROM\WDC.18.11--ROM_1809D_25_2022_WD200BB-60AUA1.bin

ROM writing error (ROM data checking)

Also i have other ROM in the database with the same error, but it looks like a close match off my disk.

Writing ROM from database............... : /Caviar Cyl 16 bit/WDC WD200BB-00AUA1 18.20D18 WD-WMA6Y1883452/ROM

In this family i have seen some times OTP PROM chip for the rom image.
And as we expect, yes, it can be damaged. :S
