 Post subject: Seagate 160GB PATA issue with System Area

Hi,

Got a 160GB Seagate PATA HDD, when connected to the Termial it tries reading and gives out erros like :


AutoRead Err
.
.
.
Auto Read Err 47 ..

Pri master

and I am not able to access the drive.

Any idea what is wrong ??

The "master" indicates the the drive has eventually started up from the SA, but the "Autoread" messages indicate that it was struggling badly to do so,

My guess is weak/dirty heads. Head stack replacement almost certainly required.

It "may" be worth cleaning the contacts on the PCB that connect it to the HDA. You'll have to remove the PCB and clean with a pencil eraser.

Hi,

Can the bad head be deactivated and activate anither one.
