Hi,

This website is awesome with lots of info on HDDs ...

I have been doing recovery without any great tools like PC3000 or salvation or atola.

Seagate Terminal cable is wonderful tool , does anybody know how to load firmware on to the Seagate hardisk using

Serial cable.

The diagram is in the files.hddguru.com site.

Thanks,
likeminders

You will need software for that. If not PC-3000, HRT or Salvation you can use something called ST Mem free for windows and mess your drives ;)

But as usual better don't do home recovery and send the drive to pro
Because FW,CERT,AppCode,OVL loading is easies operations with pc3k

For Seagate you can use SeDiv :

http://sediv2008.narod.ru/

But it's not for free either.

You will need the serial terminal and SOFTWARE !!!!
Either use the free ST Mem or buy something like SeDiv.

@likeminders
Download SeDiv also, it's a very good program and the free version will allow you to read the firmware of the drives.
To write back to the drive you will need the full version but it's a very cheap tool compared with all of the other tools arround and it's worth the price.

hmm you don't really need to be a brain surgeon to be able to write this SW for yourself

Sometimes I think its better for most people to learn programming and then do it yourself!
