Is The Date of manufacturing important when flashing ROM?

Hello All
I heard that ROM file of SATA 2 WD HDDs should be taken from an HDD with the same model and month of manufacturing or month before or later.
for example when you want to flash Rom file for SATA 2 HDD with model (WD1600AABS-00PRA0 jun 2008) you should get a rom file from HDD with model WD1600AABS-00PRA0 jun 2008 or may 2008 or july 2008 and if the month of manufacturing is not too close the required one it may damage the Marvell IC. ..... I wanna be sure is it right or not...??
