Terminal adapter header pitch.

March 25th, 2025, 9:47

Can anyone confirm the pitch of the female header that plugs in the drive on the PC3000 WD terminal adapter connectors - specifically the WD sata one. My callipers say 1.7mm but I can't find anything online.

Mines has somehow got mashed and I don't fancy paying Ace prices for a new adapter when it's just a 4 pin connector that needs replacing.

All you need are two jumper wires to connect tx/rx between the PCB and the USB terminal adapter.

I know but Im still going to need smaller than the standard duponts to grip the pcb header pins, I might as well replace the connector and do it properly.

I just removed the square plastic off one end and replace it with shrink tubing. Makes it small enough for the PCB side of things and the square plastic is a great fit for the terminal adapter.

it shouldn't be so complicated to measure the pitch... possibly measure it between the leftmost and rightmost one and divide it by the n-1 where n is num of pins.
it gives me 2mm pitch.
take pin width into account, pitch is measured at center line of pin.

Like Luke, i also used wires+sockets removed from 2mm pitch array, with shrink tubes, for more flexibility, whatever the pinout is...

@Pepe - I was essentially doing that but I have a mashed mess for pins, not sure how but I've lost the plastic surround - it's probably stuck in a drive pcb somewhere.

I'll give you it's not as flexible, but a nice fat 4 pin connector is a lot easier for me to work with than fly lead nowadays - one less swap of the glasses  .
