Hi all. I have posted an issue on ace lab forum and looks like I will need a little bit more advanced help. Here is what did I post:
I got a drive which comes up ready, gives ID and I can even start imaging but after LBA 12787881 returns only read-errors (black blocks). Tried random sectors all over the drive with the same errors.
Model: ST9500325AS / Firmware: 0001SDM1
Any suggestions?
Here is the answer for that:
I see this problem often and is generally caused by one of two problems:
Bad block that cant be relocated and stops translator loading
Weak head
In the first case you can work out the location of the bad block in hex (138344) and hard relocate
In second case, as far as i remember building head map and turn off head in DE, may work.
I tried the second solution before that but no luck. I tried to rebuild the translator manually after I got the answer. From terminal on PC3000 using the m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 command but after I pressed enter I just got 2 lines like this:
Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 14, Max Certify Rewri... etc... (only 1 line here) Successful Format - Elapsed Time 0 mins 0 secs
I might wrong but I think this command is not working with laptop drives. Is it correct? If yes, then please help me how to solve this problem.
Thank You in advance.
