 Post subject: pc3k USB Terminal Question

Greetings,


i have a problem with the pc3k USB Terminal which i never found the answer yet
please any help/advice???

i tried to connect a working HD Segate ST9120823AS FW: 3.AHE
using the small segate usb adapter as in here attach.

the problem is that in hyperterminal there is no output nothing shows

i tried "Ctrl+Z" or "." no changes

but i noticed that the USB Terminal Adapter Blinks RED with every key i press in hyperterminal

is there any idea or why am having this problem of no output

help appreciated guys

There are 2 things wrong. Lucky its an apple drive as you can't do anymore harm.

no power, and the adapter (connected to the drive) is upside down.

Hi,
First make sure the settings in HT are correct (38000,n,8,1). Second make sure "echo" is off in HT so you do not see your own typing unless it is being echoed from the drive. Next jumper the TX and RX lines on the PCB header that plugs into the drive you should see your key strokes echoed. If this works your hardware is good. Then try the drive again again. If it fails after that try a different drive.

Yes drive power would be good. And who builds (uses) a connector without the polarization tab ???? Come on people don't we care ???

Just use HT if USB serial is a COM and you want to verify hardware.

Yes you need power and connect right way up. Is it a genuine pc3000? because it is explained in your manual.

One more thing if its not one of the newer drives you need to set baud rate 9600.
