Are you actually asking for a schematic of the PC3000?

I'd skip ACE tech support and go directly to their lawyer. I'm sure that they'd be happy to give you a schematic of the lawsuit that will follow, if you continue to pursue.

This is a very special version for "Data Digging".

I think the OP is asking for an "emulator", ie a device that is functionally identical to, but not electrically or physically identical to, PC3K hardware. I'm not sure what the legal or ethical position would be on that.

In any case, I'd like to see Ace Laboratory's patents, if they have any.

ok, so this prompts me to ask a question I've always wanted to ask
(NB I dont have a PC3k)
The PC3K hardware still interacts with the disk via the IDE interface
(and probably has a sata interface as well)
(and lets ignore the serial terminal interface side of it for now)

Can someone confirm that all it does is send special ata commands to the disk
to do its magic
The magic being in how it knows what to send and how to interpret it
Plus maybe some documentation on special jumper settings to use on certain drive to put them into 'safe-mode'
Plus a libary of loaders and modules
Plus ongoing development of new loaders etc for new HD models

So if we knew the magic and the knowledge, we could do the same sort of things with mhdd scripts or our own custom programs that sends ata commands etc

Ditto for the Salvation product (is it data compass or xx disk doctor) ?

Can someone confirm

Thanks

Plus probes / info for bypassing ata disk passwords on some disk models
Plus terminal connection lead and functionality and documentation

[Can anyone else add to this list if I'm missed anything]

(just reposting in case anyone would care to speculate on how it works)
(and if anyone incl Acelab would like to give the hard sell as to all the features it includes and provides)

Adding comment from a similar ongoing thread that effectively comments on this topic

"Who do you think writes this software? Or are automated and specific repair commands freely available on google? I seriously doubt this....

And as for using Hardware simply to stop piracy, I am sure you are right because Microsoft obvously included specific ATA commands and power control features within the Windows OS....

Regarding PC3000, you are not simply paying for software. You are paying for the years and years of research and developments in data recovery which have al been compiled into a software package for convenience. "

IF you have the time and a good brain you can make this product yourself. You don't need the UDMA hardware that Ace provide.

I'm just saying that most is not overly complicated. BUT you do need plenty of time and a good brain for HWHacking ;o)
