i got this HDD ST91000430AS SN: 9YE0KFPT FW: CC9D

in pc3k it clicks few seconds and then can read Model/Serial/FW but the capacity is MB()

can anyone please tell me where is the problem here?

is it modules problem? any clues???

many thnx

btw: pc3k says:

WARNING! It`s probably HDD have "HDD Lock (LED: 000000CC)" problem
Try the command: Solution for problem "HDD Lock (LED: 000000CC)"
From menu: Tests -> Solutions

i tried it but results are:

HDD Readiness timeout (10000 ms) D0 / 00

So it does come ready, just with a zero size?

Did you try the other solution for the To fix just the size?

You can try and manually regen the translator from the terminal window.

It could also be a failing head.

Maybe the problem is not SA related. If heads knock before identifying as 0MB maybe there is physical fault and ID is read from ROM alone.

Did you try some other harmless commands like V4 to see if surface can be read?

The garbled data contain 11 repeating groups of 7 characters.

One could expect that the garbled groups represent the following 24 bytes of text:

FAIL Op=0100 Resp=0003<cr><lf>

Assuming a ratio of 4:1 (~24:7), then one could expect that the correct baud rate would be 4x the garbled baud rate.

So I'm guessing that you were initially using 9600 baud.

@ ragadatasolutions:
why change BR? is already set for SEAGATE.
You can use the A button on terminal windows is the Auto baud function.
You can change it manually on samsung doctor and i think in Fujitsu/toshiba only.
Bye

This is the wrong forum for your question, because it is not related to using the PC-3000 data recovery equipment. Please ask any further questions here:
hard-disk-drives-data-recovery-and-repair-f1.html

These pieces of information all mean that the drive has suffered internal damage (head/media) and so there is no recovery that you can sensibly do - cleanroom work will be required. If the data is important, you will need to use the services of a suitable DR company - you can request recommendations on the forum I linked above.

Sorry for the bad news. Good luck!
