HDT722525DLAT80 Dead PCB

Hi all,
I have a Hitachi HDT722525DLAT80 (MLC: BA1466, P/N: 0A31611) which has a dead PCB. I also have a donor drive which works perfectly.
Obviously as the PCB is dead (even when its off the drive I get no response from it at all), I can't read the NV-RAM from the chip. I've replaced the donor PCB on to the patient drive and checked the modules - all came back with errors. I then ran the NV-RAM adjustment tool to search for the SA. This found the service area and generated a new NV-RAM image, which I wrote to the drive.
After writing it to the drive and doing a module check, I get OKs on all Copy 0 modules, but all Copy 1 modules and some factory copy modules are still erroring. Also the HDD ID is not being read, and I get an error reading the "open" modules on start up.
Looking through the module check log, I can see messages such as 'Incompatible with NV-RAM' under the USAG heading.
Any ideas? Is there a way of achieving this without de-soldering the NV-RAM from the patient board and re-soldering it on to the donor, or is that the only way this can be achieved?
